Day 31 - San Francisco

I left my heart...

No I didn't, at least not yet.  We left the wonderful facilities at Westport this morning bound for the city.  The planned route is about 200 miles.

Originally I had planned to drive the coastal route but I had enough of the twisty roads and coastal rocks for the past several days.  We opted to suffer back through the 30 miles of mountain driving through the redwoods in favor of getting back to a much more driver friendly US-101.

It's multi-lane for the most part and twice as fast.  Our 200 mile trip yesterday took all day to complete.  I didn't need a repeat.  This was a pleasant trip through some of the California wine country.

About noon, we crossed the Golden Gate bridge.

Just like Mackinac only wider and primer red in color.

After driving the wide motorhome through the narrow streets of San Francisco, we arrived at our RV park in Pacifica, CA about 20 minutes from downtown.

It's another one of these places that is a parking lot with hookups.

It is well run and maintained and we've seen security on site.  It's also ocean front.

The bike trail right here is closed due to erosion but continues on either side of the property.

It looks like the rest of the California coast we've seen.

It's obvious the goal in real estate here is an ocean view.  All the housing is tiered as it's built up the hillside...and San Francisco definitely has a lot of hillsides.

Tomorrow we get a real treat.  A neighbor from my childhood is in town with friends and they are all coming here to pick us up and show us the town.  How good is that?  A personal tour guide.

It should be a great experience.  Forecast is sunny and 70°...like it's been for the past 155 days according to tonight's weather report.  It hasn't rained here since last April sometime.
