Today the trek was a couple hundred miles through New Mexico and into Texas.
It was a rather mundane trip. The scenery was absent. There's not much to show today.
Occasionally, there was a passing train, but little else.
New Mexico is mostly flat and scrubby land. Once we moved into Texas, the land use changed to cattle and agriculture...and it has an odor. We passed many cattle processing yards with hundreds of acres of cattle. Between the odor of the manure and what is probably the rotting feed piles, it would be difficult to live anywhere near that area.
We eventually made our way into Amarillo and Kathy had another quilt shop on the agenda. She went that way.
I got lucky. There was a Hobby Lobby across the street so I went in there.
We've been on the road too long. That place was full of Christmas decorations. The last I knew, it was summer. Which brings me to the next oddity.
It's about 90° right now at 5:00 pm here in Amarillo. I see by the weather forecast, the high tomorrow is a steamy 54°. How is that possible? I'm going to have to find another layer.
We're going to hang out here for a couple days and rest. We have all the amenities and they have a limo that goes to the Texas Ranch Steakhouse where you can order a 72 oz. steak and if you eat it in an hour, it's free. Otherwise, it'll cost you $72. I think I'll pass on that challenge.
