Day 7 ...the rest of the story.
The skies finally cleared and the water calmed. I loaded the dinghy and headed out of the harbor to see if there are any fish near the harbor. On an earlier dinghy ride, I noticed a rocky bottom in the gin clear water. My thought was that there had to be smallmouth bass here. I thought correctly. Another reason to love Elk Rapids!
I caught several smallmouth up to a couple pounds in an hour or so of trolling. A fire tiger crawler harness was the lure of choice baited with a night crawler.
As the sun neared the horizon, I made my way back into the harbor.
This fine specimen is docked on the end of one of the piers here. I could see myself in that. Maybe in the next life.
So ends another day on the high seas.
