I got lost on my way home from work on Thursday and ended up in Ludington. Oh well, might as well make the best of it.
Friend Jim Sarna came down from Traverse City and spent the night so I could show him what a sunrise looked like this morning. These retired guys don't usually get that experience.
We went out early on a lake that laid down nicely this morning.
We haven't seen too many days like this in the past few months. The planer boards left a trail of bubbles in the calm lake surface that could be tracked for quite a distance.
Unfortunately, we had lots of time to watch that little bubble trail as we trolled one hour, then two, then three, then...
Fish on!
It was even a double as I handled camera, rod and net duty, and Jim reeled in the other rod.
We got it all done and put two coho in the cooler.
It's probably clear to see why these fish never see the cockpit of the boat. The cooler on the swim platform is far enough for this mess. We ended up with those two coho and a small king salmon. Lots of time for a few fish, but that's been the norm this year.
Anyway, it's now Friday evening and the weekend crowd is arriving. Lots of boats entering the marina this evening. The fishing grounds will be crowded in the morning. I'm solo tomorrow but have a plan.
Time for some rest.
